Mind Dental, led by Avon resident Dr. Marinis, is bringing a fresh approach to dentistry to the Farmington Valley with a focus on mindful, patient-centered care.
The brand-new practice will offer implant, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry while prioritizing overall well-being alongside oral health.

A Farmington Valley favorite is growing. ☕
Giv Coffee in CANTON is teaming up with Eatery to open a brand new shared space in Berlin, CT.
The new location will be opening at:

Giv Coffee shared that the new space will bring everything customers already know and love about the Canton location, paired with favorite food offerings from Wallingford’s Eatery…creating a collaborative concept centered around great coffee, food, and community.
The new Berlin location is currently targeting an Early June opening.
We always love seeing local businesses continue to grow beyond the Farmington Valley while still staying rooted in what made people love them in the first place. ❤️
Important note for Farmington Valley regulars: this is a second location, not a move. The current Canton spot isn’t going anywhere. 👏

The Residence Inn by Marriott, located at 55 Simsbury Road AVON, was recently purchased for $12 million by JNR Management, a Massachusetts-based hotel operator.
The 100-room hotel sits on just over 5 acres and was previously owned by Florida-based AD1 Global, which purchased the property in 2019. JNR Management operates hotels across several New England states, including Connecticut.
Looking forward to seeing what kind of fresh energy and vision the new ownership brings to the property.

Something big is taking shape in SIMSBURY.
Strength & Honor is expanding into a brand new fencing performance center at 15 Iron Horse Blvd in Simsbury…and buildout is already well underway.
Led by Strength N Honor owner Steve Konopka alongside Olympian Jessica Savner, the new facility is targeting a June 1, 2026 opening and promises a training experience unlike anything currently in the area.
The new performance center will feature:
✅ Fencing training
✅ Strength & conditioning
✅ Cold tub + sauna recovery
✅ Programs for kids, beginners, and elite competitors alike
Coach Savner brings serious credentials to the space, including competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics in Modern Pentathlon and earning a Division 1A National Championship in Women’s Epee.
Many of you already know and love Strength N Honor for its high-level athletic training…now they’re bringing that same elite energy into the world of fencing performance and recovery.
The new facility is taking over the former Burn Boot Camp location.

A new Chase Bank branch has officially been approved for 730 Hopmeadow Street in SIMSBURY.
Plans call for a brand new bank building with a drive-up ATM at the corner of Hopmeadow Street and Jim Gallagher Way.
The proposal was approved this past month by the Simsbury Zoning Commission and will move forward through additional design review steps before construction begins.
The site has remained vacant since a fire-damaged building was demolished last year.
Excited to see movement on a long-vacant property. What else would you love to see come to Simsbury?

BrightPath Child Care Center at 144 Simsbury Road in AVON will be closing, with a final day of May 22.
This is one of the hardest posts we’ve had to write. This news comes during what has been an incredibly difficult and emotional time for many families in our community. Our hearts are with all who have been impacted.
While many are already aware of the circumstances surrounding this decision, what matters most right now is how we show up for one another. This is a moment for our community to come together. To support, to show compassion, and to take care of the families navigating what comes next.

Morgan House Tavern is officially open in AVON!
A new locally owned tavern has opened its doors at 136 Simsbury Road at Riverdale Farms, and it’s bringing with it all the cozy, welcoming charm of a classic New England gathering place.
Owned by Jack Brown, Morgan House Tavern was created with a simple goal in mind: to offer a warm and inviting space where family, friends, and neighbors can come together over good food, cold drinks, and great conversation. Day-to-day operations are led by General Manager Jaime Sanborn, who brings a degree in hotel and restaurant management along with 10 years of industry experience, while the kitchen is helmed by Head Chef Seymour Davis, formerly of Popover Bistro.

The menu features classic American fare, and guests are already buzzing about favorites like the Tavern Burger, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Steak Au Poivre, Garlic Cheese Bites, Corkscrew Shrimp, Beef Barbacoa Sliders, and Boneless Chicken Bites.
And there’s more to love beyond the food:

With a heavy heart, The Bottle Stop at 260 West Main Street AVON will be closing its Avon location.
After more than a decade serving the community, the Patel family shared that changing industry conditions and market shifts have led them to make the difficult decision to close their doors.
The Avon location will remain open through April 30 (or until inventory runs out). Inventory will not be restocked. Gift cards must be used by April 30 at the Avon location. Their Torrington location will remain open at 31 South Main Street.
This one hits close to home for many. A true staple in the AVON community, and a reminder of how much heart goes into local business.
Now is the time to stop in, say thank you, and support them one last time. ❤️

🚨 SCOOP ALERT 🚨
Big changes COULD be coming to Canton Village at 220 Albany Turnpike in CANTON…but it’s still very early.
The owners behind Canton Village LLC, who purchased the plaza last year, are looking to create a more modern, walkable, mixed-use space with green areas, gathering spots, and improved traffic flow.
More specifically, here’s what we’re hearing:
-The concept includes ~70+ apartments (across two mixed-use buildings)
-Ground-floor retail + commercial space would remain
-A small coffee shop is proposed along Route 202
-Some existing buildings (including parts of the eastern side of the plaza) could be demolished
-Certain popular businesses are not expected to be impacted (different ownership), including Larsen’s Ace Hardware, At The Rooftop, and others
While this is NOT a formal application yet, Canton Village LLC is presenting an early concept to the Planning & Zoning Commission this evening.
We’ll keep you posted as this evolves…because this would be a pretty big transformation for one of Canton’s longtime retail hubs.
