🚨 SCOOP ALERT 🚨
We’re hearing there may be something new cooking at the former Nodine’s Smokehouse at 192 Albany Turnpike in CANTON.
Several sources have told The Scoop Avon that Zen Restaurant Group may be bringing a new breakfast concept to the Route 44 location.
But for now, details are VERY hush-hush. We’ve been working to verify what we’re hearing and reached out directly to Zen Restaurant Group, but have not received a response. So while we have enough chatter to put this one on your radar, we’re stopping short of calling it official just yet.
We’ll keep digging and share more as soon as we can get it confirmed.

Complete Grappling LLC is currently in its soft opening at 192 W Main Street, Unit A, in AVON behind Rosie’s Laundromat, with a Grand Opening planned for September 12th!
The new martial arts studio offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi + No-Gi), Wrestling and Judo, with classes for kids and adults, from beginners and casual hobbyists to competitive athletes.
They also offer women-only classes and are an ambassador for We Defy, a program supporting Veterans through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Founding member discounts are available through the Grand Opening.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Liquid Nirvana in FARMINGTON ONLY will be closing on August 31st.
The good news? You can still get their smoothies, juices, cleanses and acai bowls nearby at their AVON location, which has been serving the community since 2014, at 39 East Main Street, right behind the Big Chair on Route 44.
Have a gift card? It can be used at either their AVON or GLASTONBURY location (2285 Main Street).
The owners did not cite a reason for the closure, but thanked the Farmington community for its support and say they hope they may find their way back someday.

Chipotle is officially open in SIMSBURY!
The new location opened this month at 1263 Hopmeadow Street and features a Chipotlane, a drive-thru lane where you can pick up digital orders without leaving your car.
They are open daily from 10:45am–10pm.
Opening bonus: On August 23rd, August 30th & September 6th, order two or more entrées after 3pm through the Chipotle app or website and receive a FREE entrée with code SUNDAYS.

The Unionville favorite is opening a second location at Tunxis Mead Park in FARMINGTON this Fall.
Daily Grind at the Mead will serve up Daily Grind favorites during home high school soccer games, weekend rec games, tournaments + more.
And they’re still working on the menu so they want to hear from YOU.

Their original Daily Grind location at 17 Depot Place in Unionville will continue serving all your favorites.

We have a little more SCOOP on the redevelopment of the former Barnes & Noble across from Westfarms.
The building at 1599 Southeast Road, which straddles the Farmington/Newington town line, is being divided into five tenant spaces.
Several of the names have already been making the rounds:
🏊 Goldfish Swim School
💎 Hannoush Jewelers
🍦 Cold Stone Creamery
💪 KidStrong
But here's the NEW SCOOP...
⛳️🧘 One remaining space is currently planned for either an indoor golf simulator OR a Pilates studio.
The redevelopment received unanimous approval from Farmington's Plan & Zoning Commission in mid July, and the owner confirmed that if something other than the golf simulator or Pilates studio is proposed for that space, it will need to go back to the town for review.
So now the question is... which would you rather see there: indoor golf or Pilates? ⛳️ vs. 🧘

🚨 SCOOP ALERT 🚨
Just over a year after opening its Avon location, From Chan Bakeshop has announced it has permanently closed.
The announcement was shared by the owner last evening, who said the decision was made "with much sadness" after a year of trying to introduce the community to the bakery's unique selection of American, French, and Asian pastries, baked goods, and specialty beverages.
In the announcement, the owner also shared that the bakery experienced personal attacks during its time in Avon and ultimately felt it was no longer the right place to continue operating.
The owner thanked the customers who supported the Avon location and invited them to continue visiting the original Cromwell location.
As many of you may remember, From Chan Bakeshop opened in the former Edible Arrangements space at 304 West Main Street.
We wish the owners and their team all the best moving forward.
