Canton Catholic church to remember the late Pope Francis
St. Therese Catholic Church of Canton, located on FM 859, will honor the memory of the late Pope Francis with a memorial Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24 (today).
On Saturday, April 26, there will be a Funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. in Rome. “Please pray for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis,” said a church spokesperson.
Pope Francis, whose given name was Jorge Mario Bergoglio, was born December 17, 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was ordained on December 13, 1969. He was consecrated by Antonio Quarracino on June 27, 1992.
Pope Francis was created cardinal on February 21, 2001, by John Paul II. His papacy began on March 13, 2013 and he died April 21, 2025, at the age of 88.
