Some things are transferable… no matter what industry your career is in.

Working late on this project tonight has gotten me to thinking about many late nights in my old woodshop. Not long after closing my doors, I went to work in a specialty millwork shop. I don’t remember the circumstances, but a few of us had to work really late one night to make sure a job went out the next morning. I think I rolled in at the house around midnight and was up with my alarm at 5:30a to be back at the shop by 6:30 the next morning. I didn’t understand the somewhat shocked reaction I received from being there at the regular time. That was just normal to me. In production world, I almost never knew if I’d be there 10 or 12, or 6, or 8 hours. All that mattered was being on time and getting it done. You don’t quit when you’re tired, you quit when the job is done. Regardless if it 5p or 12a, you get back when it’s time to start again. There’s an added sweetness when it’s for your own brand. Here it is, 11:30pm and my hot-work timer just went off so it’s time for me close it up and clock out for the night.

Another great show in the books. Took the scenic route through deals gap and dodged a million jeeps at deals gap. The ole Mazturd did pretty solid for its first road trip on a fresh motor still running break-in oil. My iPhone overheated but that’s Apple’s fault.
