My pumpkin spicers! There's a lot of soft serve pumpkin ice cream out there but very few hand dip placed that are local! I found the holy grail and it's at Mayberry Ice Cream in Sylvania. Not only is it this rich, thick, and creamy homemade ice cream from Independent Dairy Inc in Monroe Mi (local supporting local you know I love to see that) but it also has these candied nuts that are sugary and still crunchy. You can see the flecks of all those pumpkin pie spices in the ice cream too!

Absolutely incredible and my new favorite pumpkin ice cream. This is going to be tough to beat. I had to ask the young women at the counter twice that I didn't misunderstand and that this was a small!!! Yes it is, this is their small serving of a waffle cone. For 5.50 it's a LOT of ice cream.

Ready for big brain (or big back) activity? I say go to Gust Brothers Pumpkin Farm and get some served warm spiced apple cinnamon donuts, then come here and get a scoop of pumpkin ice cream. Combine, eat together. You're going to love this... they are only seven minutes away from each other. Have the best sweet tooth day ever.

Back in March I went to BM Chen for the first time and it's become my go to for great Chinese cuisine in Toledo. Not only for the nice people that work there but for the full authentic menu (you just have to ask for it). People that go into BM Chen are remembered by name, their go to orders. And the food? Superb.

I'm stuck on the beef with long rice noodle but I plan to one day invite friends to each order a dish off the authentic menu and try and share. In the meanwhile, I'm excited to announce that BM Chen will be the next Dine With Me location for September. And now I will know if people read this far by the comments 😅😉

Continuing my noodle dish tour, I liked this dish enough to come back and get it to go last week from Toledo Thai on Secor near St Ann's Hospital. It's called Pad Thai Woo Sen and is similar to pad thai but with clear thin glass noodles. Just like pad thai it has egg, lime, green onions, bean sprouts, and crushed peanuts. There isn't a ton of sauce but it does have a slightly sweet peanutty glaze that clings to the thin noodles with a little pop of spice even for getting it mild.

You mix it up and combine all the toppings for a messy noodle-y delightful dish. I especially like the wok fried egg. It's 13.00 and then add a dollar for chicken, tofu, or pork. I got it with beef this time and would say skip the beef. For the 3 dollar upcharge the beef was flavorful but kind of tough (and honestly the pork was too the first time I got it). I think next time I'd do either chicken or tofu. It wasn't distracting from the great flavor and it would be an easy fix with some tenderizing or silking of the meat. For 13 dollars and enough to feed two people, this is a great deal in the Toledo area.

They offer take out and self serve eat in and had some interesting dessert specials!

Someone asked for more photos and you know what, gladly! Here's a photo of all ten items on the Registry Bistro Hong Kong Golden Hour menu. If this doesn't have you make a plan for yourself or in a group of friends well sheesh. I'm telling you, this was a delight.

I'm partial to soup dumplings because they are hard work and a labor of love. You have to cook down the broth, then the next day take that jellied rich stock and slice it into small pieces. Then you make the other filling, in this case those delicious caramelized onions we know so well from French onion soup. But that's not all! Then you have to hand twist the dumplings after adding both the solid soup and filling. The steam cooks that soup so it becomes liquid again *inside* the dumpling.

Alright alright, here's all ten of the items on this month's Golden Hour menu. You can only get them during their 4pm to 7pm hours Tues through Thurs. Make your plans! Get to Hong Kong without a passport or a plane ticket. ✨️

Oh.... my... GOSH!!! You know it is good if I'm still in the restaurant and writing about it. Today was the first day for the Hong Kong Registry Bistro Golden Hour.

French onion soup dumplings. A croissant shrimp toast that made me a fan of shrimp toast. That square dish in the middle? Warm blue crab rangoon dip with house made wonton crisps. Phenomenal. Green beans? I want them everyday.
I tried all eleven of the items on the Golden Hour menu. Eleven dishes and between the three of us dividing the check, that's 39 dollars for each of us. Now you don't need to order all eleven buuuut...

Tell me a tasting menu you can do with eleven dishes that is that little in price. This is one of the best things you can do in Toledo and if you don't, I will be so mad. We will be fighting, Toledoans. This is Asian food with a twist. Absolutely loved it. And yes, we still had leftovers.

I don't know if it is the impending doom of cold weather coming and my body saying I need some padding for those cold wind chills but I've just been in the mood for pasta lately. It makes me think of the wild boar bolognese from Souk Mediterranean Kitchen & Bar. It's such a comfort dish. Ok confession I've only had it one time but it was memorable.

The description says San Marzano tomato cream sauce, bucatini pasta (my favorite shape), garlic, pecorino romano. When I had it definitely there were a little bit of red pepper flakes added because it had a tiny kick so be forewarned. Personally I liked that added touch. The wild boar was similar in taste to ground beef and not gamey at all. In fact it was way less greasy as wild boar is a more lean meat, so if you're minding your health this might be a little bonus.

I almost want to do a tour of the best pasta dishes in Toledo. Sometimes the best pasta is on a menu that isn't exactly an Italian restaurant. What's your favorite *local* Italian dish in Toledo?

The viral butter sundae is finally here at Arctic Cafe. I dared to try it and you know what? Watch the video. 😅 Unless you're my cardiologist then I had the celery sundae.

Arctic Cafe takes melted *real* butter and pours it on the sundae, the cold ice cream quickly hardens it and it's like a dipped cone with butter crackle. They finish it with a sprinke of salt anf you've got this buttery, creamy, and sweet sundae. It makes no sense how it works but it does. It won't be here forever so if you want to try it out and form your own opinion act fast! 🧈🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Last night was nearly a debacle. A debauchery debacle. But I'm an innocent lamb wearing a tiny halo and had no clue that blurring out an ice cream sundae would lead to me having to edit the photo, 'Shrek' it actually, to bring purity back to this channel. My goodness! I haven't cry laughed like that in a while.

To those of you wondering what innocent, pure, virtuous, harmless, chaste item I was holding well it's the internet viral butter sundae from Arctic Cafe. The only thing naughty about it will be explaining to your cardiologist why you ate a dessert covered in melted butter.

For those of you not wanting to wait for me to talk about it in a video this evening, head on over up Secor Road about 5 minutes and try it yourself. Then you can tell your grandchildren in your rocking chair one day, "We used to eat ice cream covered in butter... Those were the days."

While we are forever Only Food Not Only Fans here, I get it. But I still think some of you need to stand in the corner. 😅

Speaking of Registry Bistro I checked their website aaaand the Hong Kong menu is live for this week starting Wednesday and running through all of September. If you know me you know Asian food is my favorite so I'm extremely excited for this one. So much so I'll be checking it out Wednesday. Will you be there too? What's the first thing you'll get off this menu? I want to try all of these 😅🤤

Again, amazing prices and shareable plates. The chefs take Hong Kong classics and make them their own! Wheeee!
