We lost a legend today. Unfortunately, Dan Keen reported that his dad, Bud, passed away earlier today. Wow, what a loss. Bud was one of the people who made the Seven Mile Beach so special. This photo is from a much happier time, last October 25, this was Bud at his 80th birthday party at the P. Regardless of how you knew him: as your plumber, a friend, a softball player it didn't matter. You knew how special Bud was. He once told me, "I can fix anything." All he did after making that kind of statement, was to prove that he actually could. Time and time again! There are a lot of people who are going to miss this guy. A talented master plumber but also was one of the nicest human beings you ever could meet. RIP Buddy -- we're all going to miss you.

The summer music season at Surfside Park kicked off last night with a nod to the future with the sounds of The Rock N' Roll Collective. Intended as a launchpad for the next generation of world class musicians, this exceptionally talented group of young people entertained with a series of instantly recognizable covers. And speaking of kicking off the 2026 summer music season, be sure to be at Surfside Park next weekend -- especially if you are a Parrothead or just someone who loves having a good time. On Friday, at 7PM it's Peter Mayer, a original member of Buffet's Coral Re**er Band and then on Saturday, as part of the Solstice Festival it's Jimmy and the Parrots from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. As always, all music events are free of charge - just bring your beach chair or blanket. And parking is always free in Avalon -- All courtesy of the Avalon Free Library. If you missed the tunes this weekend don't miss the Parrothead vibes next Friday and Saturday.
