It's lit, literally.
A local Atlanta man guided to the Krispy Kreme establishment by the red hot glow found not the signature Hot n Ready sign, but flaming destruction.
As firefighters smothered the flames from the overnight fire, the man pulled up to the order window stating, "yeah, um, can I get a dozen original glazed and a few heart-shaped doughnuts for the lady." Evidently, he is the romantic type.
Authorities tried to es**rt the man away from the scene, but the man continued yelling, "they're hot n ready!" as the flames brought the building crumbling to the ground.
The community, shaken by this sudden loss, continues to ask, "Will we have our cherished sweet fried bread again?"
We contacted Shaquille O'Neal, the owner of the Krispy Kreme on Ponce first, House Music DJ second, and former professional basketball player or whatever third. Shaq stated the Kreme, "Will be back better than ever! Include the exclamation point so they know I'm serious." A man as dedicated to leavened dough as he is punctuation. Truly inspiring.
Until that return, let us remember all the post Tabernacle delectables, the prom corsages crusted with Krispies, and of course, the absent "smiles" from the unenthusiastic Krispy Kreme employees no matter how many times we frequented the 24-hour drive-through window.
