Easy, big fella! It's not quite Planes, Trains and Automobiles time yet, but we'll tide you over with an installment of '80s HADES this evening at 6 Central. We've lots of album birthdays to celebrate, plus a few tributes before we stroll off into the holiday season. Speaking of which, start mulling that cider now -- the 25th Anniversary Edition of A Very Special '80s HADES Christmas is coming on December 23!

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on your radio, '80s HADES returns live this evening at 6 p.m. Central. I was in Japan! So there will be a few Japan-related tunes, plus some album birthdays and...and...uh...other stuff I can't remember. But it'll be rad, I promise. Turn on your Victrola or just clicky the linky.

Um...what?

Um...what?

The Cars are taking one last joyride.

Surviving members Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson have revealed they’ve been quietly finishing off a batch of songs Ric Ocasek left behind, with some parts reportedly dating back far enough to include vocals from the late Benjamin Orr. That’s about as close to the full lineup as we’ll ever get again.

Easton says five tracks are already complete, and that they “sound like Cars songs." The material started as bare-bones Ric demos that the band fleshed out, turning them from “cassette in a drawer” ideas into actual new Cars music.

Meanwhile, L.A. hosted a star-studded Cars tribute concert over the weekend, with Corey Taylor, Josh Freese, and Billy Idol tearing through the band’s debut album. Hard to top that for a send-off.

It ain't over until it's Tuesday, when it's time for '80s HADES. On this week's buffet, we'll sample songs from albums released in October 1980. Yes, everything on today's show was released that month. Nifty, eh? Yes, but *how* nifty? There's only one way to find out. Well, no, there are at least two ways, but hit the link below at 6 p.m. Central for the fun way.
