A hazy start to the day on the SIU campus. Mostly sunny, hot and humid with a high near 93. Expect heat index values over 100 this afternoon. We’re also seeing some scattered pop-up showers along the I-64 corridor. Those are expected to move out of the area this morning. Showers and thunderstorms possible tonight with a low of 69.

It’s a beautiful and warm start to the day on the SIU campus. We’re on our way to a high of 93. Sunny and humid today with heat index values of 100 to 105 expected this afternoon. More of the same in the forecast for tomorrow.

A cloudy start to the day on the SIU campus. It’s a tale of two forecasts today. A mix of sun and clouds with scattered showers and thunderstorms with a high near 90. A flood watch remain in effect for the region East of I-57 where there could be excessive rainfall possible within the watch area. Meanwhile, a heat advisory is in effect today for the region West of I-57 where heat index values could exceed 100 this afternoon. Happy Tuesday!

A muggy and cloudy start to the day on the SIU campus… keep your umbrella handy as scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely today. Locally heavy rain is possible. A flood watch is in effect from 11am through tomorrow morning for most of the region. High today near 84. Low tonight around 72.

Emergency response agencies in Jackson County and Carbondale are preparing for a large-scale tornado response training exercise later this month.
