Instant Thoughts on AEW Full Gear
+ Best Friends-The Factory was just a fun little comedy match that didn't overstay it's welcome
+ Brian Cage-Ricky Starks was solid. Starks crushed it in the babyface role against the larger Cage. His match with Ethan Page on Dynamite should be a banger.
++ Eddie Kingston-Jun Akiyama absolutely rocked! It's hilarious how Eddie hasn't really been pushed since his incident with Sammy Guevara and he just gets to wrestle bangers with Japanese wrestling legends on the pre-show. More of that please.
+ Luchasaurus-Jungle Boy was a great main card opener. Jungle Jack getting busted open early was a great element of drama and he was tremendous fighting from underneath.
- A steel cage match having a chunk of the match outside of the ring kinda defeats the purpose of the cage, right?
+ Elite-Death Triangle match was fantastic (Carry On My Wayward Son as their entrance music was a pleasant surprise). Just a batcrap crazy trios match and left some intriguing stories on the table down the road with Rey Fenix not wanting to cheat initally.
- Wait this is a best-of-seven series now? I don't get it.
- Jade Cargill-Nyla Rose was your typical Jade Cargill match. Fine but nothing more than that and on a card filled with great to amazing matches, it felt like a comedown match.
++ ROH Title four-way was complete chaos and some amazing spots throughout (the Judas Effect while Claudio was doing the Giant Swing was pretty cool but clunky).
- They're gonna turn Sammy babyface again, aren't they?
+ Britt-Saraya was a really good first match back for the former Paige in WWE. Storytelling was there and we didn't get a second of interference so that's a big plus.
+ Samoa Joe winning the TNT title was a big surprise (kinda thought Hobbs would win in his Buzz Lightyear gear). Very good hoss fight and now we have Joey Two Belts.
+ Sting and Darby vs Lethal and Jarrett was tons of fun from the second the match started. First off, JJ looks fantastic at his age. Typical AEW Sting match but I love those kind of matches. Darby doing the guitar shot no-sell was amazing!
+ Really liked the match between Toni and Jamie. Absolute belter of a match.
- Loved seeing Hayter win but I'd much rather have her win it clean instead of having tons of interference. Give Jamie her moment in the sun and keep Britt far away from the title.
++ Acclaimed-Swerve III kicked ass and the stories being told were tremendous. Keith Lee walking out on Swerve felt like a good way to end the partnership instead of the classic post-match breakup. Now we can see the Limitless one reach his full potential.
+++ MJF is the AEW champion and it's about damn time! Regal turning on Mox felt obvious but it worked and now we get heel Regal along with the biggest heel in the industry. I feel like we've got a long title reign coming.
