Bounding off the LIRR train at the Lynbrook Station, there may not have been a more enthusiastic mass transit advocate than the president of the Long Island Railroad, Rob Free.

His purpose was to tour Lynbrook’s new luxury transit-oriented development, the Langdon, which features 201 luxury rental apartments adjacent to Lynbrook’s Long Island Railroad Station and moments from the Village’s vibrant downtown.

BREAKING ‼ Hempstead Town Supervisor Donald X. Clavin Jr. resigned during Tuesday's town board meeting, and Nassau County Legislator John Ferretti was appointed as the interim supervisor.

“I want to say what an honor and a privilege and a friendship all of you have been. And to the residents, you have always been very kind to me,” said Clavin, "I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve all of you. Even the critics have been the nicest people in the world to me. And I wish all of you the greatest success, and God bless you and God bless America.”

Calhoun High School principal Nicole Hollings was arrested during the early morning hours of July 2, and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle accident in Rockville Centre, according to village officials.

Hollings, 52, was taken into custody at 12:08 a.m. following an accident investigation on Lakeview Ave., according to Julie Grilli, a spokesperson for the Village of Rockville Centre Police Department.

Hollings will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on July 16. No defense attorney information was listed upon her arrest.

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, through a spokesperson, declined to comment.
