S.I.O Turns Down SKD Concert, Picks Rwanda Instead!!

“Why now?” Fans ask as top artists back out of Liberia’s biggest Independence Day show.

In a surprising and emotional twist, rising Liberian music star S.I.O has declined an invitation to perform at Christoph The Change’s much-anticipated SKD Sports Complex concert, set for July 26th. Instead, S.I.O will be heading to Rwanda to perform at their Independence Day celebration a move that has left Liberian fans disappointed and confused.

The SKD concert, organized by Christoph and his team, The Money Empire, aims to make history by filling the stadium a feat no Liberian artist has ever achieved.

The vision was bold unite the biggest names in Liberian music for a night of pride, culture, and celebration.

But S.I.O’s absence is just one of many.

Other major artists confirmed to be skipping the show include:
• DenG
• Chuku Nelly Degbe
• Faithvonic of Africa
• Spesh D DJ

And while top-tier names like CIC, JZyNo, and KIZZY W are currently on tour in the U.S., fan favorites such as Teddyride, Fazari, Kobazzie, STUNN, J Slught, Kpanto, and MC Caro have not yet confirmed their appearance adding more uncertainty.

The growing list of no shows has sparked frustration among fans, many of whom were looking forward to a powerful night of unity a bridge between the legends and the new wave of Liberian artists.

Social media is flooded with reactions.

“Why would they leave Christoph like this?” one fan asked.
Another wrote, “We feel betrayed. This was supposed to be our moment.”

As of now, Christoph has remained silent, but sources close to him say he’s deeply disappointed by the wave of rejections.

Despite the setbacks, fans are still hopeful that Christoph will push forward and that, somehow, the dream of a packed SKD Stadium for a homegrown concert can still come true.

" I never met my mother , I lost her during my birth. Then, in 2011, my father passed away after being poisoned. Since then, my grandmother became my strongest pillar, guiding me with her advices and motivations throughout.

After losing both parents, my grandmom took me to live with my aunt in Caldwell. She didn’t want me returning to Lofa. Sadly, things didn’t work out my aunt’s children disliked me so intensely that they forced me out on a day my aunt’s went outta town leaving me stranded in the streets I barely knew people.

Due to the earnest promise i made to my grandmother , that no matter how tough life became in Monrovia, I would not go back to Lofa. In my quest for survival, i had to take on a houseboy job , I slept under market kitchens when I dismissed from work since I had no where to go and not enough money to rent a room. It was tough for until two of my friends brought me in and that's where I started learning music production and writing songs for some artistes but when I noticed it wasn't paying i decided to record myself and get into the market to put smiles on people faces with the support of my 2 guys ". --JBoy share an emotional story about himself 💔

– A Heartbreaking Loss

With heavy hearts, the Tired Shop community in Brewerville mourns the tragic passing of a young soul, little Abraham.

This morning, like any ordinary day, Abraham woke up and made his way to the Cookbook shop to find something to eat.

After returning home, he later climbed a nearby plum tree—driven by hunger and the craving for some fruit. Sadly, in the process, he lost his balance and fell from the tree. The fall was so severe that he landed directly on his head and passed away on the spot.

Our hearts are broken. Abraham was just a child, full of life and curiosity. No one expected such a sudden and painful tragedy. The entire community is in deep sorrow over this loss.

May his innocent soul rest in perfect peace. Let us all keep his family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
