It ain’t easy being a dad. That’s for sure. Combine that with studying physics at UCSD, running a small business, work, and all the normal life s**t that needs to be done… and you’ve got yourself one packed schedule. But the way I look at it? I’ve got a full life. People chase retirement. But I’m chasing right now because this weird block of time that we have between our 20s and 60s is the best time in our lives. Right now is what matters. So no matter how busy I get I make sure to slow. it. down. Let the little moments last as long as possible.

There’s so many things that we chase because we think “if I just have that, it’ll change everything.” And unless we’re talking about winning the lottery, there’s not much that makes that statement true. Real change comes from consistency. Putting in the work each and every day. Everyone’s work looks different, but the important thing is staying consistent. It’s okay to fail and it’s okay to quit and try something new. I’ve failed at many things in my life, and I still do. But I keep moving forward and take things one step at a time. Kinda like running:

If you’re a deconstructing Christian and you aren’t in church today and you feel that guilt… let it go. There’s no need to be in a church building on a Sunday morning. Go on a walk with your family. Enjoy being outside on a run. Do a workout. Go practice photography outside. Church trauma is hard to recover from, but you can do it. I believe in you.

Our youngest will be 6 this year, and it’s got me feeling alllll the feels. It was just yesterday that he turned 3, and a few days ago that he turned 1.

Every parent gets the same warning: it goes by fast! But no matter how much someone warns you, you won’t be prepared. No one tells you that it happens in the moments that you don’t even notice. The last time they draw you a picture. The last hand-hold. The last bedtime story. It’s why I take all the photos of simple moments. So I can have them forever 🖤
