***I FOUND A TIME CAPSULE 😜!*** Whoa, I was cleaning out a box in my office, and unearthed these “gems!” This is how I used to help some clients visualize and make decisions on big drapery jobs, in the days of low-tech and pre AI, lol! I outlined their window dimensions on graph paper with a sharpie and drew different freehand drape concepts on thin sketch paper to overlay on the window drawing. I still have dozens of AD markers (they’re the BEST! And the stinky smell brings back DISD Design School memories, I use those occasionally to this day), the Rapidograph ink pens (not a fan-they use an actual ink well and are hard to clean, no one appreciates that for quick sketches), and all the rest, so I staged these pictures to bring them back to life! I’m not sure whose house this was, but I do remember completing this job, not sure what they chose-I imagine a lot of heavy gold velvet and dupioni silk (this was the height of Tuscan-inspired design popularity, after all!), so I included mock samples. It’s fun to see how much everything has changed and influenced us over the years: technology, styles, fabrics, colors, textures, really all of it, but as a designer, it’s what keeps it interesting!
