Donald Trump has unveiled his vision for a U.S. crypto reserve, naming XRP, Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA) as key assets in the initiative. The announcement marks the first official step toward establishing a national digital asset reserve, a concept Trump has floated since his 2024 campaign.
Initially, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) were absent from the announcement, sparking surprise and debate among crypto enthusiasts. However, an hour later, Trump clarified that BTC and ETH would also be part of the reserve, calling them "valuable cryptocurrencies at the heart of the Reserve."
The news triggered significant price surges for XRP, SOL, and ADA, while BTC and ETH communities reacted with a mix of relief and skepticism. Trump framed the initiative as a move to strengthen the U.S. crypto sector and reverse what he called “corrupt attacks” by the previous administration.
The working group overseeing the reserve is set to host a summit on Friday, bringing together industry leaders and policymakers to discuss implementation. Meanwhile, Sen. Cynthia Lummis' past proposal for a U.S. strategic bitcoin reserve has resurfaced, raising questions about how the government's crypto strategy will unfold.
With several U.S. states having attempted similar reserves independently, the federal push signals a major shift in the country's stance on digital assets. Whether this plan materializes into tangible policies remains to be seen, but it’s clear that crypto is now firmly on the national agenda.
