There is light, darkness, and everything in between.
As we navigate our surroundings—our experiences, predicaments, relationships, victories, losses, challenges, and successes—we view them through a lens, tinted by our perspective.
That lens either brightens things with light or dims them with darkness.
The event or situation itself isn’t inherently light or dark; our perception gives it that quality. For instance: “I got in trouble”—most would see this as shades of darkness. “I didn’t win”—more shades of dark. But “I got what I wanted”—shades of light.
It can feel as though the situation holds the power, until we realize that the power of light, dark, and everything in between comes from within us.
Could a loss have shades of light instead of darkness?
Absolutely, if we choose to see it that way. A loss could be a lesson, and lessons can be a bright light. They can turn one loss into many future wins.
This is true for any difficulty—getting in trouble, falling short, unmet expectations.
So, where is the light?
Can you find it?
Allow yourself to seek it out, and soon, light will shine brightly in all you do.
Because there is light. There is always light.
