As William James (widely regarded as the father of American psychology) once said, “The greatest use of a life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.”
In a fast-paced world that consumes content by the millisecond and prioritizes the present over the permanent, committing a career to the preservation of history is a rarity. The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is the living embodiment of that endurance.
Concours is a tribute to the visionary founders, the brilliant designers, the meticulous collectors, and the countless individuals whose entire lives have been dedicated to guarding the heritage of every historic marque that graces the lawn.
On August 16, 2026, the world’s most beautiful historic automobiles rolled onto the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links. While this annual occurrence has happened every year since 1950, this year marked a momentous milestone, as it celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the event.
This year, the event itself stood at its own generational turning point. After 40 years of visionary stewardship, Chairman Sandra Button prepared to pass the torch to incoming President Vince Finaldi.
To understand why this milestone was more than just a 75th-anniversary celebration, today's story shares commentary from people whose passion and dedication have enriched the event.
This year, I&C Founder (Christina-Lauren Pollack), spoke with Vince Finaldi - the new President who grew up in his grandfather’s auto shop; Joshua Scherling - the 7-year Judge and first-time entrant who first walked this lawn as a boy beside his father and now returns with his own wife and children; Soon Hagerty - the woman who helped her husband to scale Hagerty, a global automotive lifestyle brand from a family business into a $3B public company; Justin Bell - the Le Mans champion turned broadcaster who followed his legendary father’s racing tracks to the announcer’s ramp; and the renowned auto designers (Lamborghini's Mitja Borkert, Maserati's Klaus Busse, and Bugatti's Jascha Straub) who study these historic machines to create the future icons on this very lawn. They all shared the same mission that Sunday: to honor, protect, and advance a living heritage.
On top of it all, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance surpassed $50 million in total charitable giving across its history, reaching a confirmed $50,154,192, with more than half of that total raised in the past decade alone, flowing to more than 130 local nonprofits dedicated to the education, health, and well-being of children throughout Monterey County.
