School's Out, Season 2, Episode 18 with Stevie Frank

Live now: "Starting AI Conversations in Elementary School"

Jason and Stevie shared the stage recently at Central Indiana Educational Service Center and Keep Indiana Learning's "AI Edu Symposium" but the conversation was just getting started!

They dive into:
▪️ Women in tech: only Sam Altman and Elon get the headlines while Fei-Fei Li and Mira Murati are doing world-changing work nobody hears about.
▪️ Zionsville never blocked ChatGPT because turning it off only punishes kids who can't access AI at home.
▪️ For K-2, skip the tools and just teach that "AI is a robot, not a her, and it doesn't know everything."
▪️ Digital portfolios beat resumes now that AI is screening AI-written applications on both sides.
▪️ WEF 2025 jobs report says social presence drives hiring, so teach kids to build a personal brand instead of just consuming TikTok.

Our first chat with someone from the world of elementary school ed and it was a great discussion.

Before we say students are “ready,” we should probably define ready.

Issue 2 of School’s Out Field Notes is live.

This one is a field guide for spotting communication, critical thinking, adaptability, and preparedness in actual student work, especially now that AI can make weak work look polished.

Shared language is not enough.

We need shared definitions.
We need visible evidence.
We need receipts.

The AGI Podcast Weekly Blitz with Special Co-Host Ashton Schultz

The AI week, cut down to what you need before Monday starts.

√ Microsoft Copilot is his most-trusted enterprise AI but - The Copilot Chat brand is hurting M365 Copilot adoption because users confuse the free version with the full product

√ Jason argues Microsoft and Google are safer enterprise bets than Anthropic or OpenAI because they can absorb breach lawsuits while AI-native companies are still in the red

√ Canvas by Instructure/ data breach: 275 million records stolen, ~9,000 institutions affected including Indiana University Bloomington, University of Notre Dame, and Ivy Tech Community College

√ Anthropic struck a surprise deal with xAI to use Colossus 1 data center compute

Happy Mother's Day!

No matter how much AI impacts our future, moms will always be the magic people who shape our lives and make us who we are!

Why leveraging AI is mostly about being a good teammate, not a threat!

If you believe that AI is gonna replace us all. Robots taking jobs, silent factory workers, dystopia on the horizon. Maybe, you should start thinking of AI as a teammate instead of a threat, that's where everything changes.

Jason Grant Padgett talked to Lauren Dickerson, a marketing pro who’s been using AI every day→ helping her flesh out ideas, craft strategies, even design. She said something that hit me hard:

"If you use AI as a teammate, it’ll just be part of your team. Stop fearing what it can do and learn how to harness it."
