It was a long day of volleyball and our girls finished 3rd at the Fairfield Kickoff Classic. We beat Woodlawn and Oblong in straight sets in Pool Play. Norris City beat us in the Semis and we beat Newton in straight sets to finish 3rd. Overall our girls played well. We have some things to clean up but we got better today. WROY/WRUL Local Sports Recap - 8/29/2025

The Carmi-White County Bulldog Football team will travel to Johnston City tonight to kickoff the 2025 high school football season.

Carmi enters the season following a successful 7-3 run in 2024 that ended in a heartbreaking 35-30 first-round playoff loss to Warrensburg-Latham. The Bulldogs must replace a talented senior class that carried much of the load a year ago.
Carmi does bring back a handful of starters, but they will be relying heavily on some underclassmen who will be starting at the varsity level for the first time.

Clinton Wolff begins his first season as head coach of the Bulldogs, he takes over after Kurt Simon retired after 28 seasons of leading the Bulldogs on the gridiron. Wolff spent 19 seasons on Simon’s staff.

Johnston City is also beginning a new era as Marshall Mummert takes over as the Indians’ head coach after Todd Thomas resigned after 7 seasons. JC is coming off an 11-2 season where they were one win away from going to the Class 2A State Championship Game.

Tonight’s game will be broadcasted on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel. Kickoff is set for 7 PM, the Taylor Eye Care pregame show will begin at 6:45 PM.
