WROY/WRUL Local Sports Recap - 10/17/2025
The Carmi-White County Volleyball team defeated Fairfield last night on the road in 3 sets; 25-22, 21-25, and 25-23. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 31-2 on the year and 9-0 in the Black Diamond Conference as they clinch at least a share of the BDC Championship. Carmi will travel to Harrisburg on Monday before hosting Edwards County next Thursday for their final match of the regular season, and essentially the Black Diamond Conference Championship Game as Edwards County is 7-1 in conference play.
The Carmi-White County Cross Country team traveled to Hamilton County yesterday for the Black Diamond Conference Meet. Makyla Seibers finished in 1st Place, Andrew Benham finished in 2nd Place. The Bulldog Cross Country team will travel to Murphysboro next Saturday for regionals.
The Carmi-White County Football team will host Edwards County tonight at Harrington-Jeffries Stadium for Senior Night. The Bulldogs come into tonight’s game with an 0-7 record, meanwhile Edwards County is 1-6. Fans can watch and listen to tonight’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel, the pre-game Senior Night ceremony will be streamed on YouTube.
Best of luck to the Carmi-White County Girls Tennis team as they will travel to Carbondale today for the IHSA 1A Sectionals.
The Carmi-White County Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 2025 Induction Banquet tomorrow night at the 404 Seed Station in Carmi. This year marks the first induction class since 2014, as the Hall of Fame welcomes Chase Kittinger, Tyler Choate, and Keegan Dennis. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be streamed live on the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel beginning at 6 PM.
