Citrus Heights saw a dramatic drop in illegal fireworks calls over the Fourth of July!

Despite July 4 falling on a Saturday and coinciding with the nation’s 250th birthday, calls for service dropped 54%, from 360 in 2025 to 164 this year.

A New Chapter Starts at Home

Before becoming a Habitat homeowner, Billie was raising her three children in a two-bedroom duplex that no longer gave their family the space or healthy living environment they needed. One child slept in the garage while his younger siblings shared a bedroom, and recurring mold and pest issues added to the challenges they faced at home.

Still, Billie kept working toward something better. As a hospice aide, she spends her days bringing comfort and dignity to others — while building greater stability and opportunity for her own children.

Today, Billie and her family have a home of their own, with room to rest, learn, grow and imagine what comes next.

And soon, six more families will have the opportunity to start a new chapter in Citrus Heights.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento is accepting applications for six newly constructed homes at our Sayonara Drive development from August 17 through October 16, 2026.
