Caro junior Violet Tetil has never had a true opportunity to show off her talents for an entire season on a cross-country squad.

Tetil was injured for all but two races her freshman season at Kingston, and had to sit out last year from team competition due to the transfer rule.

She made up for lost time on Saturday at the Lower Peninsula Division 3 state finals with a 12th-place time of 18 minutes, 56.50 seconds.

Millington's Abigail Reis also became the school's first two-time all-state runner with a 21st-place finish to close out her career.

BROOKLYN — The journey for Caro junior Violet Tetil to get back to what she loves hasn’t been a short one.

Luke Herron put himself one step away from becoming the fastest runner to come through the Caro cross-country ranks.

The junior run a personal-best time of 15 minutes, 44.3 seconds at Saturday's Division 3 Lower Peninsula cross-country finals to finish sixth and earn all-state honors.

He trails only three-time state champion Yami Albrecht (15:28.7) for the top spot on the Caro speed record board.

BROOKLYN — Two of the top boys runners in the Thumb area over the last two seasons have been Caro’s Luke Herron and Harbor Beach’s Brody Karg.

Bay City All Saints were held to 14 points twice during the 2025 season, once in a week one 15-14 loss to Deckerville, and again on Friday in a 22-14 loss in the regional semifinal contest against Kingston.

The Cardinals will now advance to the regional championship against Capac on Friday at home with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

KINGSTON — Kingston battled to a 22-14 win over Bay City All Saints in an 8-Player Division 1 regional opener Friday.

Kingston freshman Norah Kiley made the most of her first appearance at the Lower Peninsula Division 4 cross-country final at Michigan International Speedway.

Kiley broke off a personal-best time to finish fifth while teammate Payton King also recorded an all-state finish of 25th-place.

USA sophomore Alyvia Janke was able to sneak in the top-30 with a 28th-place finish.

This week's Classic Rock WIDL 92.1 FM Game of the Week will be LIVE from Kingston, as the Cardinals play host to Capac for an 8-player Division 1 regional championship.

Kingston knocked off the Chiefs 42-0 in the second week of the regular season, but Capac has since defeated Brown City and Deckerville.
