Good Afternoon

This is my official forecast for tonight's snowfall into mid-day Wednesday. Snow will begin to pick up at 12 a.m., and the heaviest rates affecting the thumb will occur between 3 and 7 am.

Prepare for closings tomorrow, along with hazardous travel for the majority of your Wednesday and potentially into Thursday, especially as polar air rushes in.

The potential for a mix of rain and snow does exist along with a brief warming period on Wednesday, but that will only make things worse once roads refreeze. Is this the end of the world, snow? Absolutely not, will it cause disruptions and headaches? For sure!

Good Afternoon

Tuesday A.M will bring a brief period of Moderate snow from 9 am-12pm with up to 2 inches possible. The remainder of Tuesday will have light snow showers and/or freezing drizzle. Temperatures will warm through the day, and by sunset, they will hover at or above freezing.

Tuesday night, another system moves through, bringing additional snowfall (Wet and Heavy). I'm not going to sugarcoat it, there is A LOT of model discrepancy of what could happen Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Currently, I expect several inches of snow overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, before warm air advects into Michigan briefly, only to be followed by a rush of cold air that freezes everything again.

Summary

Quick 1-2 inches of snow Tuesday morning, followed by light snow showers and freezing drizzle until late afternoon.

Late Tuesday night, moderate snow arrives bringing several inches to the thumb and tri-cities

There is significant uncertainty about the location of the low on Wednesday morning, which determines whether it will rain or snow and how warm areas will get for melting.
