Based in Durham, NC, LoMain traverses across genres to forge new ones amongst the mix. She draws inspiration from the rhythmic roots of Latin and Afro music, and fuses these beats in open format with a wide array of genres from jazz to UKG to disco house to dub and beyond to stir up the energy and take people on an irresistible journey of dance.
LoMain was inspired to start DJing during her time living in South Africa when she experienced the vibrant afro house and amapiano scene, and was drawn in by the communal culture on the dancefloor. Upon returning in 2020 she launched into DJing with the goal of carrying that energy back to North Carolina, working with the underground house show collective, MAD House. Since then LoMain has spun at venues across the Triangle and abroad.
Shaking up the scene in 2023 LoMain started her own event series, ILLUME, to create a space where DJs could lean into their own diverse styles of genre, and the visual and performing arts came together. In 2024 she partnered in organizing Undercurrent Echo events, holding open decks events in unconventional places to strengthen the local DJ community and bring music scenes together. You won’t catch a dull moment while LoMain is on the decks as she continues to bring dynamic sets to the decks to bring people closer to themselves and each other.
