CounterTobacco.org is a free, comprehensive resource for local, state, and federal organizations working to counteract tobacco product sales and marketing in the retail environment, or at the point of sale (POS). rages on today with tobacco control organizations taking on tobacco industry

POS marketing builds brand recognition, creates positive feelings towards tobacco brands, and gives people of all ages a reason to “buy now”, which stimulates tobacco use and undermines quit attempts. Solving the POS problem is a fifth core strategy of tobacco control programming, together with (1) raising cigarette excise taxes, (2) implementing clean indoor air laws, (3) cessation, and (4) launching hard-hitting counter-marketing campaigns. CounterTobacco.org is a complete resource to counteract tobacco at the point of sale, with evidence-based descriptions of the problem, policy solutions, advocacy materials, news updates, and an image gallery exposing tobacco industry tactics at the point of sale.

As if e-cigarettes weren’t kid-friendly enough already, they now come with video games, Bluetooth and other smartphone-like features that make them even more appealing to kids.

These products can deliver massive doses of ni****ne that quickly addict kids — and they’re on the market illegally. That’s unacceptable. The FDA and other agencies must act now to take these and other illegal products off the market.

Towns in Massachusetts continue to seek after a "ni****ne-free generation", with Reading, Mass., a town of 25,000 north of Boston, the latest to adopt the policy.
Maureen Buzby, regional to***co control coordinator for several of the towns in Massachusetts, describes her job as a game of whack-a-mole, trying to stay ahead of an industry that continues to find cheap and sleek ways to deliver ni****ne. Prior restrictions on to***co were “Band-Aids,” Buzby said. By contrast, the generational ban “really protects younger people” without taking “anything away from anyone who’s already 21.”

A new study from the Keck School of Medicine of USC and the University of Nebraska Medical Center analyzed ni****ne pouch use in a nationally representative sample of 39,557 U.S. adults. The study found that 2.9% of adults had ever used ni****ne pouches, with 0.4% reporting current use.

“The low prevalence of ni****ne pouch use in adults surprised us, given the rapid increase in sales,” said study coauthor Adam Matthew Leventhal, PhD, a professor in the department of population and public health sciences at the Keck School of Medicine and executive director of the USC Institute for Addiction Science. “But it’s also possible that the sales are being diverted to adolescents, who were not represented in this survey.”
