CarringtonNews .Com Carrington News: A guide to Carrington, ND and the surrounding area, as well as to local/state news.

I (Judy Keller) love North Dakota and the Carrington area where I live. I enjoy administering a website where I can highlight all the news, fun activities, events and personal/business accomplishments that are taking place in our area. One of my very favorite pastimes is photographing the beauty of this area and its people. I thoroughly enjoy visiting with and learning from the people who follow m

y site. Also, since I created the "Memories of Carrington" group, it is a pleasure corresponding with people, both locally and from all over the country/world, who have an interest in Carrington's past. You will notice that I like to feature Prairie Paws Rescue and James River Humane Society, animal rescue groups located in Jamestown, ND. You can tell from this site how much I love animals and truly admire the people who rescue animals in need. I want to thank everyone who visits and participates in making this site a worthwhile adventure. Let's have some fun communicating with and learning from each other!

For dog lovers...

Lily, a quiet little girl, entered a police dog auction holding a jar of coins. She wasn’t there out of curiosity—she wanted to bring home Max, the retired police dog who had worked with her late mother, Officer Hannah Parker.
After losing her mom, Lily stopped speaking but kept her mother’s lessons close: love deeply and never quit.
While bids climbed past $3,000, Lily quietly placed her $52.16 offer. Some chuckled—until Max barked, broke loose, and ran straight to her, sitting faithfully at her side.
Silence filled the room. Touched by their connection, others withdrew their bids, allowing Lily to be reunited with Max.
This moment was more than money—it was about devotion, loyalty, and hope. (check in the first comment👇)

Hello everyone! I hope you're enjoying the beautiful flowers all around town. I had a chance to tour Illa Zink's yard, and as you can see, her yard is filled with lovely flowers. She explained that many of them are past their prime, but to me they were still outstanding! I hope you are all enjoying your own flowers and gardens... and having a wonderful summer! Thanks for dropping by!

Such a sad loss for the Carrington community.... Sincere condolences to Josh's family and friends... 🙏

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we share the passing of our brother, department member Josh Cabler.

Josh joined the Carrington Fire Department in 2021. He had an immediate impact on the department as he was always involved in any way he could. From fundraisers, parades and assisting with fire prevention week, Josh was usually involved to some extent.

Josh quickly earned the respect from other department members as he was elected to Training Officer in 2024. In 2025, Josh was elected as a Captain of the department.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Kristin, and their three children—Kaydri, Brexyn, and Rhyatt. Just know we will be here for you always.

God Speed Josh, we will take it from here.

This week's summer tip: Encourage your kids — especially your teenagers! — to put down the screens and get outdoors, even if it's just to walk the dog, go for a bike ride around the block, or read a book in the backyard.

Approximately 72% of North Dakota middle schoolers currently spend three or more hours per day on their screens *not* counting schoolwork ... a number we can only imagine skyrockets during the summer months!

News around the Carrington Area & North Dakota in General...

CarringtonNews.com is the place to visit when you want to find out what’s going on in Carrington, ND, the surrounding area, and North Dakota in general. At first this site focused on news, events and activities in Carrington, but eventually spread out to covering news around the state. Being known as the Central City, Carrington folks pretty much travel to all corners of North Dakota, supporting activities/events throughout the region. That’s why you’ll find news here about Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Minot and more.

Carrington News is also a place where people who lived here in the past can visit to see what’s going on in their home town or make contact with friends from their high school days and earlier years.

We recently started a group called “Memories of Carrington,” which is becoming popular with folks who like to talk about the history of Carrington. It’s becoming a very interesting site with lots of old pictures and comments about Carrington’s past. We hope you will check out the group and add to the chat and information!
