YOUR WEEK AHEAD: June 1-5, 2026
(as of June 1 / 11:30am)

MONDAY: We started the day with some low clouds but those are slowly mixing out and eroding away. We are watching a complex of storms to the north over Tennessee and Kentucky that are diving south-southeastward and could impact our weather later this afternoon and evening. Otherwise, we will be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the mid 80s.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Lows mid 60s.

TUESDAY: There could be more low clouds to deal with at first, but skies will eventually become partly sunny with a chance of pop up showers and storms. However, chances will trend downward the closer we get to evening as an unusually drier air mass builds in. Highs around 80.

TUESDAY NIGHT: As high pressure builds over our region and drier air settles in, we will have mostly clear skies and lows unusually cool for the first week of June in the low to mid 50s.

WEDNESDAY - FRIDAY: With high pressure in place, sinking air suppressing any storm development while also providing drier air, lots of welcome sunshine will be the rule each day. Humidity values will also be unusually lower for the first full unofficial week of summer" Highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s, lows in the 50s each day.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK: May 29 - 31, 2026
(Forecasted as of May 28, 2026 / 9:30pm)

The weekend brings much of the same that we've seen all week. A very humid air mass will remain in place which, combined with daytime heating, will trigger scattered showers and storms each day, varying in coverage and location.

Friday and Saturday look to have the best chance of more widespread coverage, whereas Sunday chances drop back a bit thanks to a passage of a backdoor cold front from the northeast. Just how far south and west that cold front can push could change chance percentages as well as temperatures.

Speaking of, temperatures will actually be abnormally cool for the last weekend in May, possibly staying below 80 all three days.

SPOILER: A high pressure ridge will look to rebuild over our area early next week, which will begin a slight warming trend with temperatures and also attempt to "turn the faucet off" on this moisture laden atmosphere. While rain chances won't completely drop off from the forecast (it is unofficially summer after all) it will be more of what you typically expect with summer - the good ol' fashioned widely scattered "air mass" shower and storm cells that pop up and then rain themselves out on only a handful of yards in a day before dying out.

Tune in to B92 Country at the top of the 8:00am hour tomorrow (May 27) for another edition of Weather Wednesday!

With summer unofficially here, Tex Carter and I will discuss some tips on how to be more "weather wise" when planning outdoor events, especially with the use of weather apps.
