couple dies following house fire on Saturday...

Carroll County Coroner Keith Hancock on Sunday – confirmed that a couple has succumbed to injuries following a fire in their residence Saturday morning.

From the Carroll County Coroner’s Office:

“Mr. Johnny Turner, age 63, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, January 3, 2026, while receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Ms. Melinda Clark, age 66, later succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, January 4, 2026, while receiving treatment at an Atlanta-area hospital.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families.”

Carroll County Officials say Carroll County Fire Rescue was dispatched at 10:56 a.m. to a reported residential structure fire with occupants trapped at 100 Memorial Drive in Bowdon.

Here is their initial report:

“Upon arrival, fire crews encountered a single-wide mobile home with heavy smoke and fire conditions consuming nearly half of the residence. Initial arriving units confirmed that two occupants were trapped inside and immediately initiated rescue operations.

Within minutes, firefighters successfully rescued both victims through a bedroom window. Firefighters performed life-saving measures, including CPR, and were able to obtain a pulse on both individuals.

Upon the arrival of West Georgia Ambulance, patient care was transferred, and both victims were transported from the scene to a local hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

Fire suppression efforts continued as crews worked to contain the fire and prevent further spread.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Carroll County Fire Marshal’s Office.

No additional injuries were reported.”
