I hope this post helps out some night hikers, particularly those who walk with no light at in . I wear thick boots, snake gaiters, and motorcycle shin/knee pads. I've probably been bitten several times at night out at the LBJ Grasslands but never notice it because of the thickness of that protection.
are out there and like a lot of other , they like to migrate at night, including across the concrete path. You can not see them with the ambient light and it's a fallacy to think they will always slither away when you get close.
Home boy here decided to turn and chase me aggressively. I knew something was up as soon as I saw the coil. Even then, I did not back up enough.
Quite the encounter and still be able to get a good video :)
