A former Bartow County Sheriff’s Deputy charged with overseeing inmates at the Bartow County Jail was sentenced in Bartow Superior Court. Forty-four-year-old Gregory Jarrod Allen of Cartersville pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual contact by an employer or agent and procuring to***co or a to***co product for an inmate.
He received a 15-year sentence, with the first 24 months to be served in incarceration and the remainder on probation. Allen, a military veteran, began working at the jail in 2005. He was arrested and subsequently fired from his position in 2022.
Allen requested to serve his time in the Bartow County Jail to avoid incarceration in a Georgia state prison. He must also pay a $5,000 fine and perform 100 hours of community service.
According to the indictment, between May 2022 and August 2022, Allen engaged in sexual in*******se with a female inmate at the Bartow County Jail. During that same period, he also provided the same inmate with to***co or a product containing to***co while she was incarcerated.
While he will be allowed to serve his sentence in Bartow County, Allen must report no later than Sunday, November 16, to begin serving his sentence.
