With a heavy heart, we honor Eddie Gilbert, former Fire Chief of the Steele Fire Department. City flags have been lowered to half-staff beginning immediately and will remain so until the day of his interment.

Chief Gilbert dedicated 60 years of service, including 35 years as Fire Chief, to protecting our community. Let us take a moment to truly reflect on what 60 years of service represents, service beyond devotion, marked by sacrifice, commitment, and a lifelong calling to protect others.

The Steele Fire Department we know today stands on a foundation built by his leadership and example.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gilbert family and the Steele Fire Department during this time.
