Just a note: The library event welcoming Dr. Abram next week will be held on March 6, not March 7 as we put it in this week's final issue. By the time the new Highlander comes out on March 7, the event would have already happened, so we wanted to make the note here.

The Blue Ridge Bobcats boys and girls basketball teams have made it through to the Little Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament next week.

The tournament games are being hosted at Blue Ridge on Tuesday, with the championship games to be held at Blue Ridge on Thursday night.

The Blue Ridge girls will face Highlands at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night, and then the Blue Ridge boys will square off against Hiwassee Dam at 8:30 p.m.

The varsity boys championship will be held on Thursday night next week at 6:30 p.m. followed by the girls championship game at 8 p.m. at The Ridge.

Just in: Despite Blue Ridge students having no school today, Blue Ridge will play its varsity basketball games against Hayesville tonight starting at 6 p.m. with the girls and approx. 7:30 p.m. for the boys. Tickets are $6 for spectators and $2 for students.

Due to inclement weather and dangerous road conditions, tomorrow January 16th, all JCPS schools will be closed for students. It is an optional workday for staff.

Blue Ridge's varsity basketball teams will make up their games against Andrews that were cancelled on Tuesday night due to inclement weather on Jan. 18 beginning at 6 p.m. The girls will play first followed by the boys.

Blue Ridge School and Early College will operate on a two hour delay on Thursday morning, January 11th. Temperatures in the Blue Ridge district are predicted to be below freezing this evening. With the amount of moisture on the roads, we are concerned about refreezing and black ice. All other JCPS schools will operate on a regular schedule.
