Sunny skies and seasonably warm weather greeted several thousand festivalgoers who came to Grey Fox in the northern Catskills on Saturday to see and hear all the places bluegrass has been in the past 80 years.

As always, fans were treated to the top tier of ”high lonesome” talent during the three-day event, as pickers and singers on four stages regaled them with songs and tunes new and old, Glenn Weiser writes.

The ripple created in 1945 by Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys has spread ever outward through the decades, absorbing new influences and spinning off subgenres.
