Horse show world better pay attention ??

End of an era at Hastings Racecourse. 🐎

Hastings Racecourse & Casino is ending thoroughbred horse racing effective immediately, closing the book on 133 years of racing in East Vancouver. The casino and simulcast betting will stay open, but live racing is done. The move is being called a straight business decision, with the track saying it’s no longer financially viable.

he timing is wild: MLS commissioner Don Garber just called the Whitecaps’ situation at BC Place “untenable,” and the club has been in talks about a new soccer-specific stadium at the PNE. The Hastings site is widely seen as the likely spot.

NRHA Open Futurity - 2025
Top Ten Sires by volume of offspring in the Open Draw !
New draw post reschedule produces 394 entries:
Top 10 Sires includes 201 offspring in the draw yields 51% of total

Gunna be a great futurity, this set of 3 year olds will have the facility and environment to perform at their highest!

After the revised draw due to the reschedule, the amount of mounts per rider in the Open Futurity 2025. They had to redraw, duh ! Integrity to sport ! 3/4 (72.7%) of the draw is made by riders with 2 or 3 mounts.
The industry needs to count their blessings and wake up to the lesson being taught.
Barking about what you don 't like changes nothing for the better. Just like an angry, pi**ed off horse; just kicks, bites & bucks all the time. Not pleasant to be around and can't depend on it!
Be responsible, use common sense and be happy! The Open Futurity pays $350,000 to win it! We remember when $100,000 was a big deal !
Equine Herpes virus is not new ! We know how to NOT Spread disease !
And NO, it's not closing down industries.
Riders & Owners, have a great futurity ! You have the facility to yourself, go get the futurity championship !

Hello horse world - PBR is moving up and on with officiating to more discerning levels. It’s not hard horse world.

PBR will introduce a revamped judging system for the 2026 season, shifting all scoring to tenth-point increments for both riders and bulls.

The change preserves the traditional structure but allows judges to better separate performances that often looked identical under the half-point system.

Analysis of 15,500 top-level rides showed elite bulls score within an extremely tight range, often leaving judges marking the bulls exclusively in the range of 20.5 to 21.5.

The new system enables precise differentiation, such as scoring a bull 21.2 instead of forcing a 21.0 or 21.5, and applies the same nuance to rider scores.

A new rule also caps rider scores at no more than three points above the bull.

Moving forward

The AWWA is very excited to announce the creation of a new class for 2026. It is called the AWWA Ranch Discipline Rail Pleasure. Several Arabian shows will be including it in their class schedule for 2026 and the most exciting part is that we will have an AWWA A/HA/AA Discipline Ranch Rail Pleasure ATR class at Youth/Mid-Summer Nationals in Oklahoma City this coming July 2026. Details will be available in the AHA Omnibus. A class description is below.
