We’re looking forward to an amazing weekend. This is a great event in honor of a very special man.

Onslow Bay Boat Works Classic Series David Pennington Memorial KMT this weekend September 10-13. Held in conjunction with Shootout Leg 2 located at Big Rock Landing. Come on out and fish and remember our good friend. This event will be a captains choice. You may fish either Saturday or Sunday.

Fishing Times
Lines In 7:00 AM - Check In by 4:00 PM by Coast Guard Station.
You may cast, troll or jig for bait prior to the 7:00 AM lines in time. However, should a king or Spanish mackerel be caught while bait catching, it shall be immediately released and not kept on board.

Should you wish to sign up and fish both days of this event, you must have a separate designated captain. The Classic Series points will count only on the day the listed captain for the Series Team is listed as Captain for that particular day.

No tournament this weekend, so here's a quick recap of the last two weekends.

We may not have filled the boat with big kings. But, we had a full house for our last two events the Cape Shootout Classic Series N Div. Leg 1 and the Sneads Ferry Rotary KMT!

Our usual crew of Mark, Joshua, Crockett, Rachel and grandson Colby were joined by grandkids Olivia and Isaak on the Liquid Fire. The temps were hot but the bite was not for us and the majority of the teams for either event. Congrats to those who got a payday and points in both events! Thanks to all the staff running events like these for us to fish!

We weighed in a 14.78 # king in the Classic which gave us some points towards the championship. We made the call not run our 13 # to the scales last Sunday for the Rotary event. With a back-and-forth weather forecast, we had chosen Sunday for our fish day.
The kids were hot, tired and hungry; and it just didn't make sense to run a small fish to Sneads Ferry especially with a Monday workday ahead of us.

We got some dinner then worked on getting the gear cleaned as the kids helped and rewound the day's events to Audrey. We've still got a few more Southern Kingfish Association events left to try to up our game in division 1.

We had some good eats from our time together. The kids all caught their first mahi - which was fun to watch! And Audrey made some homemade smoked king mackerel fish dip from Sunday's king. 😋

Hoping for some cooler temps ☀ and bigger fish soon.
