Did you catch the local at the end helping with the mulberry harvest? I think he got more than I did.

This is my first year harvesting mulberries, so tell me… what would you do differently?

The berries were way too high for me to even consider a ladder, so a sheet and a stick seemed like the easiest solution. Afterward, I soaked them in water with a little vinegar and salt, rinsed them well, and froze them for later.

Now I need ideas! What are your favorite mulberry recipes?

My first gardening mistake this year? Waiting too long to add supports.

By the time I got around to it, my tomatoes were already leaning, flopping, and trying their best to escape their pots.

I used the Vego Garden FlexGrow Tomato Cage 11.5” Square on my container tomatoes and the FlexGrow Modular Tomato Cage System 14.5” Square on my spaghetti squash.

One thing I appreciated right away was how simple they were to assemble. The cages open up easily, which made it much easier to install them around plants that were already larger than they should have been. When the season is over, they’ll fold flat for storage until next year.

Lesson learned: add supports before your plants desperately need them.

I sent my sister a gallon bag of lettuce and spinach from my garden. She washed and chopped and made some salads. I am loving the fresh goods. What have you harvested recently?

A fun way to add more flowers with less space!

These Black Cardinal cuttings weren’t looking great, but the stems were still firm enough to give them another chance.

Now we wait. 🤞

Make sure you’re following along to see if these eight cuttings become eight new plants… or a lesson learned.

Plant Crush of the Week: Epipremnum Manjula

It’s Tuesday, but Manjula Monday sounds better, so we’re rolling with it.

I’ve been crushing on this Manjula lately because the leaves are finally starting to size up. I think adding the THICCLY GrowLid has made a big difference. The moss pole stays consistently moist, which means less maintenance for me and happier roots for the plant.

This one grows hydroponically under grow lights, and every leaf comes out with its own unique mix of green, mint, and creamy white variegation.

Also, a quick shoutout to my new shirt from Any shirt that combines plants and Diet Coke was basically made for me. Be sure to check out the page for your next shirt!!

A few months ago I combined several N’Joy pothos into this planter and added a coco coir pole. I noticed that there’s actually a marble queen mixed in and debating whether to take out. One vine has completely taken off! So today it got an upgrade: a second pole and a little guidance with some Velcro tape.

One thing I’ve learned is that it’s usually easier to start training vines early. Once they’ve stretched out, wrapping them around a support gets a little trickier. But that’s part of the fun of growing plants—sometimes you’re not following a plan, you’re just making the next best decision based on what the plant is doing.

I’m still debating whether to notch a couple of the bare sections and try some keiki paste. What would you do?
