I had one goal this spring- Fill a turkey tag with the recurve: ☑️ This Turkey got the last laugh tho…
Monday night started out chaotic and ended in the same fashion. 🙃 We got settled in around 4pm and not 15 minutes later there was already a big strutter coming into the decoys… and I missed him. Twice. Both arrows soared right over his back. He wasn’t dumb enough to give me a third shot so after he left I collected my arrows, broad heads full of dirt, and we sat some more.
Around 6, Cole started calling and way off in the distance was a gobble. 🙌🏻 As he called the gobbles got closer and closer until he was right in our lap. I drew again, settled in, and this one found its mark.
Now here’s where it gets good… after some trailing we thankfully were able to track him down. As we were finishing up taking some pictures he started to slide off the tree that we had him laid across. Instead of letting him fall to the ground, I reached out to catch him and his dagger of a spur tore my middle finger right open… I knew right away this one was gonna require some medical attention. 😅 Abtrip to the ER and 6 stitches later we were able to call it a night. But I got my bird, and a story I’ll never forget! 🏹 😄 Some more footage coming your way.
