Some of you may have seen this guy with me this fall. This is my eldest son Greyson and he's is 11 years old. He has been my roadie pushing gear, assistant with setting up and tear down, and so far, exclusively operating D.R.E.W. at events. While most of his friends are wanting to spend every waking moment on a game console, YouTube, or TikTok, this kid wants to work. In the summer he's knocking on doors wanting to mow, this time of year its raking leaves, and pushing snow in the winter. He does this all on his own, including coming to help with events. He wants to start his own business and has been hustling bracelets at school.
On the way to the last event he helped with, he was telling me about the Toys For Tots box at school. He told me he wanted to take the paycheck he EARNED from that event and buy toys to put in the box.
Yesterday was the day. He went to the bank and cashed his $220 check and headed to Target. He bought several bags of toys (only a couple pictured here). He got everything from Hot Wheels, monster trucks, to dolls and Legos.
He has the biggest heart and has always looked out for the little guy (literally and figuratively) and been compassionate to those that are less fortunate.
After his shopping trip, it offered a great conversation starter as to why these boxes are placed around town. It really gave both my boys an insight in to the "real world".
If you see these boxes around town, regardless of the name on the mission, consider being like Greyson. If you do, take a picture and post it here, he would love to see how his actions have inspired others to help too!
