The Disney Blog

The Disney Blog Not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company Since I'd been blogging personally since 1998, it was a natural thing for me to do. That door is always open.

The Disney Blog is written by fans for fans and covers all aspects of the Walt Disney Company, the Disney family, their history, fans, and related organizations. The Disney Blog started in 2004 when I looked around and saw that while there were excellent Disney Travel Planning websites, no one was covering the whole company in the blogosphere. The Disney Blog is written by fans for fans and covers

all aspects of the Walt Disney Company, the Disney family, their history, fans, competitors and related organizations. As the company has grown and added ABC, ESPN, Pixar, The Muppets, Marvel, and lately Star Wars and other Lucasfilm properties, we've added those to our coverage too. If any of those topics interest you, we'd love to have you as a guest blogger. The Disney Blog is in no way affiliated with the Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company is riding on the success of its theme parks and cruises. The parks division president even runs the entire company now. An inversion of the model Walt himself invented.

Vacations represent social currency and status affirmation and Disney through some planning and a lot of luck has risen to the top of the must-do list. Why is this so?

In this TedTalk I will....

The current slate of expansion at Walt Disney World is setting up a new Disney Decade for the theme parks, but the second half is completely unannounced. What are the five new themed attractions you would add to the parks, ESPN WWOS, or Disney Springs to seal the deal as one of the greatest decades ever.

Here are mine:

1. Down Under in DAK. A ride though the scenery and animals (land & sea) native to Australia (exit into aquatic experience with a giant reef full of life).
2. A 3rd Star Wars Galaxy's Edge attraction (speeder bikes racing coaster with giant show building perhaps) at DHS and that dinner show idea they wrongly put in the hotel.
3. A classic New York studio stage style jazz/blues nightclub at Disney Springs with more shops and dining renovating Disney Village area.
4. Port over the Beauty and the Beast attraction from Shanghai and move iasw to EPCOT to add walkway and fix Fantasyland flow after Villains land.
5. Expand Disney Skyliner / Peoplemover routes to MK, DAK, ESPN WWOS, various resorts, and new train station connection to airport.

Ambitious enough? I'm greedy and think we still deserve that indoor theater that was announced for Magic Kingdom too.

World of Disney at Disney Springs is selling out of the Anzellan shoulder rider plush at a rapid pace. Definitely some of the best characters in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

You're celebrating a big milestone at Walt Disney World or Disneyland (whichever you prefer) and want to take a group of 6 to dinner without breaking the bank. Where are you eating at?

With the original trilogy characters out at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, encounters like this are making me, a child of the 70s, very happy. It was a little weird seeing Rey and then a hundred feet away seeing Goth Anakin.

With the rumor Warner Bros is negotiating with Universal Studios to be the new home of the DC super hero characters, the tantalizing possibility of Disney getting the East Coast theme park rights back to the Marvel characters and brand is back on the table. It might cost a pretty penny, but I would love to see that happen. How about you?

Visiting Rise of the Resistance in the Disneyland version of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge for the first time. So far, it's like deja vu, where enough details are different that you know it's a separate experience, but still very much the same. Nice to have working cannons in the space battle.

For those who drive to Walt Disney World from parts north what landmarks do you look for to know that you are closing in on the magic?

(The Volcano at Volcano Bay is one, for example.)
