This morning marks the release of our final issue of Centerville News.
It is with a heavy heart that we share this chapter is coming to a close. What began as a simple dream to serve our community grew into something far more meaningful than we ever imagined. From our very first issue, our goal was to create a place where local stories mattered, where the people, events, and everyday moments of Centerville could be shared, celebrated, and remembered. Along the way, this little paper became more than just a publication. It became a connection point, a storyteller, and a reflection of the heart of our town.
Telling your stories, celebrating your successes, and capturing the moments that make this community so special has been an absolute privilege. We have loved every minute of this journey.
However, the reality is that we can no longer continue. Like so many small publications, rising costs have made it increasingly difficult to operate. Printing and mailing expenses alone have reached a point that is no longer sustainable, and even increasing subscription rates would not cover the many other costs involved; fuel, equipment, office expenses, permits, and the time it takes to be present in the community we love so much.
This decision has not been easy. It comes after many long nights, lots of tears, difficult conversations, and a deep desire to find another way forward. But ultimately, we have had to accept that this is the right step for us and our family.
While this is the end of Centerville News, it is not the end of our commitment to this community. We will still be here, we will be supporting local businesses, attending events, and celebrating the people who make Centerville so special.
We encourage you to continue showing up for one another. Support your neighbors, support local businesses, attend events, and keep the spirit of this community strong.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes, for trusting us with your stories, and for believing in what this little paper set out to do. It has truly been an honor.
