When to Call 911 on the 4th of July
As we gather to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, cookouts, and time with family, please help us keep emergency lines open for true emergencies.
🚫 Please DO NOT call 911 for: People shooting off fireworks in your neighborhood, Fireworks debris landing in your yard, Someone in your home being upset or unable to sleep, Pets being frightened or hiding from the noise
✅ Call 911 IMMEDIATELY if: A house, structure, or field is on fire, Someone is injured by fireworks, A person is experiencing chest pains or other medical emergencies, You see an active fire started by fireworks
🎆 REMEMBER: 911 should only be used for real emergencies.
Non-emergency calls delay help to those in critical need and overwhelm dispatchers during peak times.
For non-urgent concerns, please use the non-emergency line or report after the holiday if it can wait.
From all of us at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Cherokee County 911, we wish you a safe, fun, and responsible Fourth of July!
