Update from Scott Flury

FYI..some notes from last night's Chama Village Council meeting. The FREE Blue Bus service should begin 5 runs daily between Chama and Dulce in October. Two of those days will also incude trips on to Farmington. They wil also be looking to hire 3 drivers from the Chama area. You do not need a CDL and 3 months of training will be provided...Las Cumbres Community Services will construct a small park on the grass near the fire station. It will have a small fence for the pre-school age children, climber slide and sand box. It will be available for area families also....Group sales are up 24% and ridership up 9% heading into this train season...The vilage and chamber are waiting for insurance issues to be resollved before reopening the doors at the visitor center...The council began the budget process for the upcomng fiscal year....Chama Fire Chief Matthew Gallegos reported that thanks to much effort the village has received a very favorable fire rating which should reuslt in lower insurance rates for homeowners....The chief also wants to reward vounteers who put in the additional time for training...Community member Roxanna Bayer expressed concern that the fence has not been removed that would allow access to the Gallegos Park walking trail......
