Good morning everyone! It is Election Day in Lyman County. The polls are open until 7 tonight. The Town of Kennebec will decide between two candidates – Hunter Schindler is challenging incumbent, Jared Schelske. Voting will take place at the fire hall in Kennebec. Lyman School District will hold their election, with polling places at the city hall in Reliance, Golden Buffalo Convention Center in Lower Brule, fire hall at Kennebec, Presho Methodist Church in Presho and community fire hall in Vivian. There are four candidates vying for three spots – Nathan Millard, Veronica Gerard, Cody Volmer and Cooper Garnos. Have a great day and get out and vote!

We have the following changes to area schools. Chamberlain Schools are now closed. Crow Creek Head Start and Crow Creek Early Head Start are also closed. Looks like winter is not ready to leave yet.

Not looking good out there. Rain, now a wintery mix. Might be a great day to stay home and bake chocolate chip cookies and have a cup of hot chocolate. Here's what we have so far for closings or delays – Crow Creek Head Start is delayed two hours. Crow Creek Early Head Start staff are asked to report at 9:30 a.m. Kimball and White Lake Schools are closed. Be safe out there!

Happy Tuesday morning, Feb. 18! It's a tad bit chilly out there, hence the closings and late starts. So here we go . . . Chamberlain Schools will be two hours late. Crow Creek Head Start will be two hours late with Crow Creek Early Head Start staff asked to report at 9:30 a.m. The Crow Creek Sioux Tribal Offices will be closed with only essential staff and finance asked to report to work. Crow Creek Tribal Schools will be closed. Kimball Schools will be two hours late – there will be no breakfast and no morning preschool. Lower Brule Schools are closed as well as the Lower Brule Sioux Tribal Offices. Lyman Schools are closed and no activities are scheduled. White Lake Schools will have a 10 a.m. start with no preschool, no junior kindergarten and no breakfast. Be safe out there. It's not worth getting stranded when it's this cold out. Spring is coming!

Good Tuesday morning to everyone! Our first "major" snowstorm of the season has a few late starts for area schools. Here they are:
Crow Creek Head Start and Crow Creek Tribal Schools of Stephan, starting two hours late. Early head start staff should report at 9:30 a.m. Kimball Schools will be two hours late with no morning preschool and no breakfast. Lower Brule Schools will be two hours late and the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Office will have a two hour delayed opening. Lyman Schools will start at 10 a.m. White Lake will start two hours late with no preschool, no junior kindergarten and no breakfast. If you are venturing out early, bundle up. It's a tad bit chilly out there.
