From training pilots, surgical technologists, industrial technologists and much more, Parkland college offers a wide variety of unique programs to accommodate every student. However, the core problem lies in the fact that students applying to Parkland are unaware of a lot of the opportunities available, and do not want to risk going into a field that they have never heard of before....

From running her own pet setting business on the side to working in the supportive environment of the Learning Commons at Parkland, Emma Fish manages a busy schedule. Along with taking 15 credit hours and serving as the Student Government Association’s (SGA) secretary, she continues to refine her time management skills while doing what she loves. Academic Background Fish is currently in her second year at Parkland College and is completing her general studies credits before transferring to a university to study speech-language pathology When asked about why she chose her career path, Fish answered “It means a lot to me to be able to care for others, so becoming a speech pathologist and being a part of helping children succeed at their most developmentally crucial ages is important to me.”...

Club History When talking to the club advisor, Jeremy Jang, she revealed that the engineering club has been around for a while but originally shut down a long time ago due to a lack of interest. However, around two years before COVID-19, students of Jang had expressed interest in an engineering club, and after learning there had been one previously, they took the initiative to revive it....

There are many student-run clubs at Parkland College that the majority of the students do not know much about; The Prospectus being one of them. However, our college offers an array of clubs and groups that are meant to give students unique and beneficial experiences related to their chosen career path. A good example of this is the Applied Media Promotions Club (AMP), which faculty advisor Kendra McClure explains as operating “like a PR/advertising firm.” McClure, who partially founded the club in 2014, explained that the group designs ways to help local nonprofits promote themselves to the community....
