Session three of the CU Creators Collective at Farren’s at the Inman reminded me exactly why I started. I looked up at 7 PM, when we were supposed to be wrapping, and almost every group was still deep in conversation, working through our guided questions, connecting.

I will never take for granted the people who keep showing up for this community, nor will I stop being amazed by the new faces who walk in every single time, willing to try something unfamiliar & put themselves out there to make a real connection.

I know how hard that is. Walking into a room full of strangers is scary. Making that feel a little less scary is the entire point of what we’re building.

To everyone who came out: thank you. So many of you left telling us how glad you are that a space like this finally exists here & I hold onto that. 🥹🫶

And a huge thank you to Farren's at the Inman for being the most gracious hosts and welcoming us into their beautiful new space in downtown Champaign, right in the heart of the community we love so much!

I’m still grinning from ear to ear thinking about how special our birthday celebration was last week.

I’ve never been big on downplaying accomplishments. We all deserve to take a moment to pause and brag about the hard work we put into what we are building. There’s no shame in that.

I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some amazing people over the past two years who I’ve learned so much from & who have guided me towards success.

Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey, but it doesn’t have to be. I’ll never forget how Scott, owner of Clanin Creative, reached out early in my A Girl About Champaign-Urbana journey and asked about what my goals were and I didn’t quite have an answer for him. He gave me some great advice and referred me to my business coach, Jamie, who’s changed my life. 🖤

CU is a community that truly shows up for the people who pour into it. I have so much admiration for people who see gaps in what a community needs, and think to themselves, “I’m gonna fill it.”

Thank you to our family, friends & clients for the endless and overwhelming support.

Also, thank you to Halftone Co. for letting us step away from behind the camera to soak it all in. 10/10 would highly recommend!
