Rest Sweetly in Chinatown - Cindy Mu { }

Cindy is a Molecular & Cellular Biology major and Creative Writing minor who is interested in medicine, specifically in oncology. She has found that the skills she’s developed in her English classes have been very helpful in writing presentations and lab reports. Cindy likes to think that biology itself is a never-ending story saga: new characters and relationships are always being introduced!

When reflecting on the inspiration for this amazing poem, Cindy explained, “To be honest, my inspiration is a bit self-indulgent. All of the things I wrote are all reassurances that I wish someone had told me when I was younger as an Asian American living in a small town. I realize now that no matter what happens, it’s important to remember that your cultural identity is always something you should be proud of!”

Interested in seeing more poetry? Keep an eye out for our next issue! Our 21-22 issue will be available online and in a physical format! Release date to be announced soon!

Our submission period for our next issue is currently closed, but we will open again next semester!

green - Tamar Dallal { }

This art piece stood out to our editor team and we wanted to highlight it for the beautiful use of highlights and shadows through a peaceful scene.

Dallal explained, “I painted this piece because I was experimenting with oil paints and texture, and I was in a place where I felt at peace both emotionally and spiritually. ‘Green’ reflects that contentment through nature, and the texture reflects the manifestation of this mindset.”
