The arctic front has arrived. Temps are beginning to plummet in NW IL and this trend will continue through the night.

Winds are gusty too gusting 20-30MPH. This could lead to patchy blowing snow in rural areas.

By tomorrow morning, most in northern and parts of central IL will be below zero air temps. Wind chills below zero for all of central/northern IL.

❄️ WINTER STORM ALERT! ❄️

A winter storm is expected to bring 7–15 inches of snow across much of Illinois from tonight through the weekend, creating dangerous travel conditions.

Our crews have been hard at work pretreating roads and loading plows with salt and other materials. Plow operations will ramp up later today, and clean-up efforts will continue into Sunday.

Please plan ahead—conditions will begin to deteriorate tonight, with heavy snowfall, reduced visibility, and slick roads leading to significantly longer travel times. As always, please don’t crowd the plows. They need plenty of room to work safely and effectively.
