Had the immense honor to attend the press conference announcing the recipients of the new Illinois Sound Stage Capital Grant with Governor JB Pritzker today. Which, incidentally, also makes it official that a secret project that several of our local professional filmmakers in the area have been working on since 2022: a new 290,000 square foot Sound Stage called Flyover Film Studios that we are building, with the generous help of $1.1 million from this grant, at Hangar 1 in the decommissioned Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL. We are so incredibly excited to bring and host a new level of feature film and television to East Central Illinois!

CU and surrounding areas! Shatterglass Studios is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Spring 2024 Film and TV Workforce Development Program, in partnership with the Illinois Film Office and the Illinois Department of Economic Development.

If you're unfamiliar, this is a TUITION-FREE, 8-week intensive workforce program designed to train individuals to be able to join the Illinois film and TV production industry. However, unlike the past 2 previous programs, this is a new program that will hone in on two specific area's within the film industry: SET CONSTRUCTION and GRIP/ELECTRIC. We are looking for individual students for EACH program. That means this program will double the amount of students needed and accepted.

However, we are also looking for skilled technicians per those two disciplines. That means it will be ideal to have *some* experience in either construction or electric of some kind. Each of these classes will be taught by experienced key professionals in each area and the intent is to build the local workforce of Set Construction and Grip/Electric workers in East Central Illinois.

We are accepting applicants 18 years old and up, but looking for individuals who are looking to move into the workforce immediately. If you intend to go to school for a few more years, that likely will not be advantageous as this is a state-funded program intended to get people employed within the first 6-MONTHS of the final class.

We have decided to extend the application deadline for the Spring 2023 Illinois Production Training for a few more days. You now have until this Wednesday, March 22nd at 11:59 pm to apply for this free filmmaking training program.

Selected trainees will not only get to chat with real, filmmaking professionals who have worked with Disney, Netflix, Shudder and more, as well as get an exclusive tour of major Chicago soundstages, but each student will also complete their training on a real, actual film shooting in Champaign County at the end of the program!

The course will be taught by a number of professional filmmakers working in various departments right now within the Chicago film industry and the plan is for the course to run through the end of the spring 2023.

All ages 18 and up are welcome to apply but you must have access to the internet/Zoom and transportation for the on-set production days. Apply now!

Central Illinoisans! We are excited to announce that the Central Illinois Film & TV Workforce Training Program REDUX officially begins taking applications starting TOMORROW! Our last program was a huge success with a placement rate of over 85% into the Illinois film industry! If you're interested in a new career path or have ever wanted to make movies professionally, then please consider applying for this FREE 8-week program, made possible with a grant from the Illinois Film Office and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity!! We are also welcoming past applicants who were not selected for the last term!

Quick update on the Workforce Training Program. One of our administrators got COVID and that has pushed us back a week. We have completed our review of all applicants and will notify everybody of their status by this weekend. We hope to begin classes by next weekend, July 23.

Thank you for your patience and a big thanks to everybody who submitted an application. We received over 50 applicants and it was extremely hard to narrow it down. Everybody who submitted will receive an email notifying them of their status and if you weren't selected we very much encourage you to apply again next year, as we hope to expand the program for a larger class.

This past year Shatterglass has had the pleasure of producing a comedic new web series called SEEDS whose narrative focuses on the friendship & hilariously candid conversation between 4 young black women in Chicago. Dynamic, bold, & socially conscious it's as innovative onscreen as it is off, with women of color spearheading the project. Produced alongside Deja Harrell, Caitlyn Johnson & Iman Sharabash, the series is set to premiere this coming March with OpenTV whose platform hosts notable series such as Brown Girls.

Currently we're in final stages of post-production and need your help!
