We regularly hear from families who have worked with the school or adapted their homeschool curriculum to accommodate for issues with memory, focus, processing speed, or reading...

And while these are helpful in the moment for getting kids through the school day, it's important to consider πŸ‘‰ How are these accommodations preparing your child for life?

What if instead you targeted the root cause of their struggles and built up the skills that were weak so they could think and learn more confidently & independently?

If this sounds like something you want for your child, don't put off getting them the help they need. Our cognitive skills assessment can shine a light on where their brain is hitting a roadblock in learning and how you can support their continued growth!

It's not that she wasn't paying attention. It's that her brain needed a little more time β€” and in a classroom moving at full speed, that gap adds up fast.

Here's what most parents don't know: slow processing speed isn't something kids just have to learn to live with or work around. It's a cognitive skill. And like any skill, it can be trained.

That's exactly what brain training does: not just helping kids work around the challenge, but actually strengthening the underlying skill so the gap starts to close.

If you've been told accommodations are the only answer, it might be time to ask a different question... What would it mean for your child to actually keep up?

Brain imaging research shows something powerful about how children learn. When kids believe they can get smarter, the brain responds immediately. Areas linked to motivation, memory, and focus become more active, even before any skill level changes.

This belief shifts how the brain interprets challenge. Instead of seeing mistakes as proof of failure, the brain treats them as information. That mindset reduces stress and keeps learning systems engaged. The child stays curious instead of shutting down, which allows memory and attention to work together more effectively.

From a neuroscience perspective, belief changes brain signals. Motivation centers communicate more clearly with memory networks, making it easier to absorb and retain information. Over time, repeated experiences of effort paired with belief strengthen these pathways. The brain becomes more efficient at learning simply because it expects growth to happen.

Parents play a key role in shaping this belief. Praising effort, strategy, and persistence teaches children that ability is flexible. Avoiding labels and focusing on progress helps the brain stay open. When children trust that they can grow, their brains begin rewiring for learning long before results appear.

Working memory is at the root of so many of the challenges our kids face every day (including why they can't seem to remember instructions).

Auditory processing is a foundational skill that's critical for reading, learning, following instructions, and more. When auditory processing is weak, it can look like:

β†’ Trouble blending sounds or decoding unknown words
β†’ Issues with rhyming or recognizing sounds, letters, and patterns in speech
β†’ Difficulty following verbal instructions
β†’ Sensitivity to loud sounds or noisy environments
β†’ Poor comprehension

Many times, you may think a student with weak auditory processing just isn't listening, when in fact, they may have a sort of disconnect between their physical hearing and how their brain processes that input. That is where strengthening auditory processing comes into play!
