Every week I get an email from a company, and it’s one of those emails that I read start to finish religiously. It’s one that I really look forward to receiving every week.
Then, out of the blue a few weeks back, their email hit my inbox, and it was the biggest disconnect I’ve ever seen.
It was so strange. It felt like the email was a direct cut and paste from AI, and I had to read it again to make sure it was from the company that I thought it was from. My first thoughts were, did they get a new marketing person, or maybe the person who normally writes the emails was on vacation or out sick this week? It could not have been more different than the email that normally lands in my inbox.
The weirdest thing was the emails that normally come from this company make me feel a connection, they always provide value and meet me where I’m at. The one that was directly from AI felt like it could have been written by anybody and felt like it was coming from left field.
This feels like one of the most blatant examples I’ve seen recently of how something beautiful and well-received absolutely took a wrong turn and landed horribly.
If you are a small business using unedited, straight cut and paste from AI for your social media and your emails, are you feeling the disconnect on your end?
I promise you the recipient is feeling it on their end and there is something you can and need to do about it.
Don’t miss this week’s episode where Kristi breaks down just because AI is working doesn’t mean it’s working for you and what you can do to fix it.
