AI can advance society, yet it brings risks, including misuse. As the job market’s priorities shift, students’ future will be affected by AI, pushing the need for guidance from schools. Without clear preparation, a loss of opportunities may occur, but knowing how to navigate it is a growing focus.

After months of internal planning, FCPS unveiled its next steps in taking the district into the AI age. On Nov. 3, the district hosted FCPS Forward: AI & The Future of Learning, an event announcing its partners, Google and Playlab, for their AI literacy initiative, Meeting the Moment

The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) had their meeting and holiday party after school on Monday, Dec. 8. The meeting started off with a slideshow, giving announcements on any updates or upcoming events. They had activities such as perler beading, clay sculpting and snacks including cupcakes, brownies, chips, a hot chocolate making station and a cotton candy machine.

Their usual meetings include creating arts and crafts and service hour opportunities. They also host events in the school such as the Pyramid Art Show. The club is open to students who have taken at least two years of an art class, have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a 3.0 or higher in their respective art class.

“If you are interested in joining an honor society that is a little more laid back than some of the other ones, then I fully recommend [joining NAHS],” senior president Nix O’Meara said. “The service opportunities are serious for the impact that they make but, in the end, we’re just making art. We’re making a visual representation of something beautiful.”

NAHS meets the first Monday of every month in Room 112. More information can be found on their upcoming meetings and activities can be found on .

Tchaikovsky’s scores and nutcracker dolls have become synonymous with the holiday season, a time when many ballet companies unveil their productions of “The Nutcracker.” With the show performed on a yearly basis, dancers and audience members get the opportunity for new experiences through an old tale.
“The Nutcracker” ballet premiered in St. Petersburg, 1892, as a loose adaptation of one of E.T.A. Hoffman’s short stories, “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.” The ballet gained popularity in the U.S. in the mid-twentieth century, and has since become a Christmastime tradition. Former ballet dancer and current Ph.D candidate at Harvard Sofiya Boroday recalls her experience with “The Nutcracker” in a student-run ballet company at the University of Chicago.

As frost sticks to windshields and engines hum in the cold morning air, drivers prepare to drive on winter roads. With temperatures falling, students are reviewing safety habits and learning how to adapt to changing winter conditions.

While temperatures drop, drivers are dealing with reduced visibility, slower morning commutes and changing road conditions. Colder mornings have already challenged the driving confidence of several students.

Whether “For Good” or bad, the sequel film adaptation of “Wicked” leaves a lasting impact on its audience. After 21 years on the stage, the story reaches global audiences in a new light, illustrating the fine line between good and evil.

“Wicked: For Good” is a stage-to-screen adaptation of the second act of the Broadway musical “Wicked,” which itself is adapted from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel “Wicked.” Altogether, the stories are all based on L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and its 1939 film adaptation. The story takes place in the Land of Oz, following two young women named Elphaba, who was born with emerald-green skin, and Galinda, a bubbly, popular girl. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, a screenplay by Winnie Holzman and direction from Jon M. Chu, the audience explores the pair’s journey in becoming the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
