A Black Motherless Daughter is a Black Woman who lives in silence with the stress, shame, rage and anger of being rejected and abandoned by the Black Woman that brought her into this world.

I've been a Black Motherless Daughter since I was 6 years old, and for years I was PI**ED OFF about it...

I wanted to know WHY my mother walked away from me. (What did 6-year-old me do to deserve such rejection?)

I wanted to know WHAT in the hell made her think that s**t was a good idea?! (Ma'am, your little girl really needed you, duh!)

I wanted to know HOW she could sleep at night knowing that she just up and left her daughter like that? (Like, who TF does that?!)

I wanted to know WHEN her ass was coming back to get me! (Yeah, I'm 48 years old and she has NEVER returned)

I've asked myself these questions a gazillion times, I asked God these questions even more. One day (about 4 years ago), I got an answer from God, and it was very clear...
1. MIND YOUR BUSINESS
2. PEACE IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT
3. IF YOU WANT PEACE, LOOK WITHIN

Initially, I was not pleased with those answers...because I felt like it didn't answer a damn thing. I kept going back to that first "answer"...MIND YOUR BUSINESS! And like a freight train, IT HIT ME...

PEACE IS MY BIRTHRIGHT! (also, my name means Peace, duh Salima!)
And I was only going to get it if I minded my business...btw, my business is ME!

I began doing "the work" and I began to understand that I was on a lifelong healing journey (you are never "healed", you are always HEALING).

I started realizing that I was no longer PI**ED OFF and that I'd be working for the rest of my life to remain AT PEACE...and for the record, I LOVE IT OVER HERE!

Sis, the time is now. You've spent your life being PI**ED OFF, it's time for you to be AT PEACE.

No matter what form it shows up as and no matter who it comes from...you do not have to tolerate it.

Understand that when you do tolerate disrespect, you're engaging in disrespecting yourself....you're teaching others that it's okay to treat you badly.

IT IS NOT OKAY.

Take a deep breath and realize that you were born worthy of respect and when you see that respect isn't on the table, you have an obligation to yourself to leave the room❤️

Black Motherless Daughters - you cannot allow everyone access to you.

In our effort to cope with being abandoned/rejected by our mothers, we've all experienced allowing anyone/everyone access to us.

We didn't know any better. We were afraid and just didn't want to be alone.

We were never taught the art of discernment. Our environment taught us to people please, to go along to get along....to do anything to not be abandoned/rejected.

It's time we GET UP, STAND UP and fight for yourself to fully experience your birthright to limit, revoke, deny and/or approve anyone access to you. This includes your mother.

I need you to know that having access to you is a privilege and allowing anyone/everyone access to you is a contradiction of your natural state of peace, no matter who it is.
